The start of my weekly blog entries will begin with how I stay positive and motivated in the midst of so much rejection and “failures” that are the “norm” in the real estate industry…
In order to help keep myself motivated, I like to read motivational books, stories and quotes as well as watch speeches and interviews on people who have made an impact in the world (not just real estate). I then try to correlate them with my own experiences, hardships and road blocks.
“If you can get through doing things you hate to do, on the other side is greatness” – David Goggins
Above is a great quote by David Goggins. If you don’t know who he is, I suggest googling him. He is awesome and kinda nuts!
The quote to me, means taking yourself out of our comfort zone and pushing yourself to grow and get better. E.g. sales calls, listing appointments, door knocking, social media marketing, etc. Doing the things that are necessary to build your business even if you are uncomfortable doing them.
In real estate, you learn quickly to get used to rejection and powering through it or you let it get to you and you fail or quit. If you aren’t getting rejected, you aren’t working hard enough. It’s that simple. For every 10, 20, 30 “no’s” you may only land a few “yes’s”. Those “yes’s” will pay off significantly! Don’t be afraid of rejection or minor set backs. You can and will overcome them if you stay persistent. And when you get through them, you are destined for success.
Let’s go to work!
